Cindy’s Story

What do you do when you can no longer become all the things you thought you were meant to be? I grew up in a very small town in New Mexico. I’d spent much of my life as a member of a controlling, conservative religion. I’d always thought that my purpose would be to marry, have children, and to help run churches around the world. But when I was 32 years old, a series of events happened that led my husband and me to leave everything we’d ever known.

Every purpose I'd known was gone, my community was gone, and I felt very alone. I was starting my life over again. Prior to leaving, I'd never really allowed myself to consider a career. But getting up and going to work every day suddenly gave my life new structure. I had a fire in my belly to do something meaningful with my life.

While working at an accounting firm, I discovered that my company only had five major clients. I realized that they could be in a bad situation if they lost even one. I eventually worked my way up the ladder and found new, innovative ways to recruit clients for the company. I was fascinated with how to make our company work better. I found myself searching for ways to implement simple systems that benefited us and increased our bottom line. Eventually, I also began training as a profitability coach and applying those skills at my job. For the first time in my life, I was finding deep meaning in my work.

When my employer offered me a partnership in their company. I surprised myself by saying no. I realized that I wanted to share everything that I’d learned with other entrepreneurs and businessesI wanted to help them the way I'd helped the company I’d worked for. It felt like a big risk, but my husband and I started our own business because I knew that this was something that I was supposed to do. I’ve been helping business owners for over twenty years.

These days, I don't see myself as only a bookkeeper or a profitability coach. I'm a consultant who really understands the everyday problems of my client's businesses. I can think like a bookkeeper. I can think like a business owner. I have a lot of experience in many industries which gives me insight into how to solve my client’s problems in innovative ways. Honestly, I love helping people just like you make more money doing work they love. Maybe it’s because I found my own purpose and meaning through work. It means so much to me to help others do the same.
